Meet Dr. James E. Mayer, Jr., D.D.S.
Dr. Mayer was raised in the Toledo area. He was a 1976 graduate of St. Francis de Sales High School. He did his undergraduate studies at Eastern Michigan University where he was a resident advisor in the dorms and earned a varsity letter in wrestling. He received his Bachelor of Science in biology in 1981.
He spent a total of 14 years in the Navy, including a 2 year tour on board the USS Ranger (CV-61). Six
years of his service were with the Marines at Camp Pendleton California, and with the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego. Dr. Mayer’s residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery was completed at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego, California.
After serving the United States as a Dental Officer, Dr. Mayer returned to Toledo in 2000, where he entered into private practice with Dr. Shall and Dr. Ziegler. Dr. Mayer presently is a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons ( AAOMS ), and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. ( ABOMS )
Dr. Mayer maintains clinical privileges at; St. Vincent, St. Charles, and St Anne Hospitals within the Mercy Health System, and Toledo and Flower Hospitals of the Promedica Health System. Dr. Mayer is also on staff at Mercy Memorial Hospital in Monroe, Michigan.
Dr. Mayer enjoys teaching residents as a clinical assistant professor at the University of Toledo Medical Center, Department of Dentistry. ( UTMC )
When his not working, Dr. Mayer enjoys spending time with his family, athletics, fishing, hiking, and skiing.
