Dental Anxiety
Having a dental procedure can be anxiety provoking for many patients. While our doctors will always administer local anesthesia (“Novocaine,” though this anesthetic isn’t actually used anymore) in order to perform a procedure, additional sedation methods may also be used to make a patient more comfortable. Some patients may be given “laughing gas” (nitrous oxide), an oral sedative (pill or liquid medicine), or IV general anesthesia to make them more comfortable during the procedure. Your doctor will discuss with you which options may be best.
